Enhancing Learning Spaces

The existing wall linings in these classrooms were looking well past their best with noticeable stain lines at joint intersections, on end walls in particular, diminishing their appearance.

As anticipated, when we removed the wall linings we discovered there had been no preparation of the underlying substrate, with multiple gaps at joins which allowed moist air from within the wall cavity behind to filter through to the wall linings leaving a dark stain line. The Max Style team filled and sealed all substrate joints and numerous holes in the substrate lining, as well as packing out the top section of wall to ensure a uniform surface for the new lining to go on.

The new Autex lining was extended up to the full height of the rooms in a neutral silver-grey with a dark blue base below window height. This has transformed the classes, enhancing the natural light and making the space look and feel larger and brighter, while also maximising the sound absorbing properties of the material. The classroom then had new carpet tiles installed, completing the new and revitalised look.
